Radiohead chooses Bilbao as the venue for their unique performance in the State in 2012

20/12/2011

The Bilbao BBK Live 2012 Festival starts strong. The British band Radiohead has become the first confirmation for this new edition. Radioheads concert in Kobetamendi is also the only performance of the British band in the State included in their tour for the next year. Their participation in the Bilbao BBK Live 2012 Festival will become a unique opportunity to enjoy live with the sound of one of the most emblematic bands of the music scene.

Radiohead has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and has released eight studio albums, one of them, like OK Computer (1997), considered one of the best jobs in the recent history of rock. They figure also among the bands that have generated greater consensus among critics in the past two decades and their albums of the "90s" have marked a whole next generation of musicians in the UK, from jazz or rhythm & blues artists to hip-hop or electronic music.

Their albums of the last decade have shown a restless and avant-garde group, warring against theirselves to continue evolving. Radioheads commitment with their audience has led to self-manage the production of their last two albums and to promote the sales through the Internet. Their revolutionary character is at the origin of a pioneering initiative under which they agreed with his followers the fair price to pay when purchasing one of their albums.

The five members of the band, Thom Yorke, the brothers Jonny and Colin Greenwood, Ed OBrien and Phil Seway- met together at the private school of Abingdon (Oxfordshire, England). Under the name of On A Friday, the only day of the week in which they could rehearse in the Music Hall of the school, they were growing in popularity in Oxfordshire and in the early 90s the EMI producer took care about them. At the urging of their new producer company, they change the name of the band to Radiohead, borrowing from the Talking Heads´ song of 1987.

In 1993 the group would make their debut with the release of Pablo Honey, which contained hits, classics today, such as Creep Anyone Can Play Guitar or Vegetable. After this, it came The Bends (1995) and the acclaimed OK Computer (1997), and songs such as High And Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, My Iron Lung, Karma Police, No Surprises or Paranoid Android which went to enrich the repertoire of Radiohead. In the last decade have released Kid A (2000), Amnesiac (2001), Hail To The Thief (2003) and In Rainbows (2007), albums that have flirted with styles as diverse as the electronics or the jazz. Their latest work is called The King Of Limbs and came to light last spring.
